BECOMING A SHALOM FAMILY MEMBER

Shalom Missionary Church new members will experience a series of welcoming engagements, with the aim of initiating a journey—From Intake to Involvement—that will establish a meaningful worship, witnessing and working connection for them.  The purpose of the church which encompasses, evangelism, discipleship, fellowship, ministry and worship, provides a focus for the new member ministry activities; and natural abilities as well as spiritual gifts are determined, with the aim of building a foundation for the new members’ continuous connection to Christ and participation in the work of His church.

STEP 1

Affirmation of Jesus Christ as Lord and Saviour.

Step 2 - C.L.A.S.S.

Christian Life and Service Seminars (C.L.A.S.S.) focus on Shalom core values, mission, vision and strategy; principles of spiritual growth, how to study the Bible, tithing, prayer; developing a biblical theological understanding of ministry. Each C.L.A.S.S. also helps persons understand what spiritual gifts God has given them for ministry in His Kingdom; and helps participants to be involved in the Great Commission of Christ.

Youth (Ages 5-14) are required to attend C.L.A.S.S. 101. Youth C.L.A.S.S. 101 is held every 1st Saturday at 9:30 a.m. If the child is being baptized, they need to have a pre-baptism consult with our Pastor or Youth Minister. To register for Membership CLASS, please call the office or complete a form indicating your intention to attend and make submission online or at the information desk.

Step 3 - Baptism

Shalom practices water baptism through immersion in the name of the Father, Son and Holy Spirit. Water baptism is a public affirmation and an outward symbol of the commitment you’ve made in your heart to accept Jesus Christ as Lord and Saviour. If you have been baptized previously by immersion in water, you do not need to be baptized again.

Step 4 - Fellowship

Upon completion of C.L.A.S.S, persons joining by Baptism, Letter of testimonial, and Christian background will be extended the Right Hand of Fellowship, incorporating you as a full family member of Shalom Missionary Church. The Right Hand of Fellowship and Baptism session will be extended quarterly. You will be contacted by the Senior Pastor, First Lady or Church Administrative officer informing you of the time and place to meet. Please respond accordingly to the invitation.
